Minnesota grandfather and grandson to earn their American FFA Degrees this week

FRAZEE, Minn. — When 21-year-old Ethan Olson walks on stage at the FFA National Convention on Saturday to receive his American FFA Degree, he said he ll be fairly relaxed about the major moment. That s because his grandfather, 74-year-old Roger Schaefer, is going to show him how it's done when he receives his Honorary American FFA Degree a day earlier. Schaefer was nominated and accepted for the degree this year after missing the deadline to earn it back when he was 21 years old and fresh out of serving in the Vietnam War. When I come back, I applied, Roger said. At the time, there was an exception for those who served in the armed forces, but Schaefer was not aware of that.
